What is Tufting?

Wool tufting is made by tufting wool through canvas either with a needle or tufting gun, resulting in a carpeting textile medium. This medium is a slow process and allows time for a lot of thought and emotion to go into the work. This slow pace then allows for the work to naturally reveal what it will be throughout the process. I look at rug tufting as a way to collage images, memories and emotions in a non conventional, non linear storytelling way. I use vibrant colour leaving me with beautiful surreal tufted wall art.

Biography

I am a Dublin-based artist working across film, sculpture, performance, and textile installation. I graduated with a First Class BA in Sculpture and Combined Media from the Limerick School of Art & Design, TUS, in 2023. On graduating, I was named TUS Student of the Year, became the first inaugural recipient of the TUS Travel Bursary, and was awarded a residency at the National Sculpture Factory.

In 2023, I was shortlisted for the RDS Visual Arts Awards, exhibiting at IMMA before receiving the RDS Royal Hibernian Academy Studio Residency, where I spent two years developing my practice through dedicated studio time and mentorship. During this period, I was also an invited artist in the RHA Annual Exhibition.

My work has since been exhibited internationally through the Irish Embassy in Jakarta, with the exhibition touring galleries across Indonesia. I was the recipient of the Parallax Emerging Film Artist Award, presented by Cork International Film Festival, the National Sculpture Factory, and Sample Studios, leading to my first solo exhibition, Dropped Frames.

In 2026, I was featured in The Irish Times' "50 People to Watch in 2026." Following the completion of my RHA residency, I exhibited in Key Learnings at the RHA Main Gallery and presented my second solo exhibition at 126 Artist-Run Gallery, Galway. I am currently in the run up to my Third solo show in collaboration with District Magazine.

My Work is held in private collections in Ireland and throughout Europe, and has been purchased by Highlanes Gallery, TUS, Technical University of the Shannon as well the OPW, Office for Public Works. Currently exhibting in Dublin Castle for the EU Presindency 2026.
